"On Boarding" for Mother's Day
Are you burned out from Mother's Day brunches? Bored with barbecue? Bummed by a 2-hour wait at a local eatery (that isn't even your favorite)? Well, what about "on boarding" with a spectacular, easy, cool, entertaining idea for Mother's Day, served on a board? Kind of a plank-style version of a one-platter presentation. You can serve up anything from brunch-eon to luncheon and beyond. I mean a non-cooking, buying, and arranging visual spectacle artfully displayed on a board. An innovative and imaginative way to host this holiday.
I found a coffee table-style entertaining road map called On Boards, by Lisa Dawn Bolton. This gem of a book is totally jam-packed with ideas that will inspire you, create party planning envy among your friends and family, and won't steam up your kitchen or your nervous system. Lisa gives you all the details, elements, tools, strategies, and ideas you will need. This book is seriously step-by-step, and you have the picture visuals to boot.
If you don't already own a board (or large platter) to serve as your base, Home Goods recently had an abundant supply on sale for a reasonable price. They had all shapes and sizes, from long, skinny rectangles to circles and squares.
For Mother's Day brunch, consider a Bagel Board piled high with tomatoes and cucumbers, sliced red onions, smoked salmon (lox), of course, cream cheese, fresh dill, flat leaf parsley, a bowl of berries, and a large presentation of black grapes. Or, how about a waffle or French toast board? A frittata board?
Are you tempted? On board? Happy Mother's Day!!!
Great ideas...and easy!!
